The Big Word for Rain Storm

I was teaching The Water Cycle to my 4th graders.  I asked them what happens after the water condenses in the clouds.  They all responded with, "It RAINS!"  After which I asked  "Well does anyone know the BIG word for rain?"  One of my students looked at me and practically shouted, "RRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
IIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNstorm!"

There was no way I was holding that laugh in!  This is why I love teaching!

Water is what we got!

Andrew and I teach the 4 year olds at church every Sunday!  Those kids can say some pretty funny things.  This one day we had a visitor from another congregation.  He informed us that his teacher always has snacks for them.  One of our boys turned to him and said, "Oh yeah, Well, we have WATER!"

Who knew that trip to the water fountain every week meant so much to them!

A new meaning for the word, BAND-AID!

I was at my friends house this weekend and she cut herself with some scissors. She asked her two year old daughter to go find her a band-aid. Her daughter came back to the living room repeating, "Band-Aid? Band-Aid? Band-Aid?" When we looked down to grab the band-aid from her, we realized she had brought back a TAMPON!

Well, that is not quite a "band-aid."

But, I guess if you think about it, it could be considered ONE!

I don't know, I just did!

Imagine two cute little four olds whispering out of the side of their mouths while reading this story. They looked just like the boy pictured above, only they were not in the pool, they were at church in shirts and ties.

I teach the four year olds at church. It is a joy of mine that I look forward to each Sunday. Today we were talking about Easter which is coming up next week.

"Ok, guys, is finding eggs the reason we celebrate Easter?"
"NO!"
"Is candy the reason we celebrate Easter?"
"NO!"
"Well, then what is the reason we celebrate Easter?"

One of the boys quickly answered --
"Jesus is the Reason we celebrate Easter!"

There was a moment of silence and then the boy sitting next to him leaned over and whispered (out of the side of his mouth,)
"Hey, How did you know that?"

The boy who answered leaned back to him and whispered,
(out of the side of his mouth)

"I don't know, I JUST DID!"

The funniest part of this story really is not in what they said, but how they said it! It was just too cute!

I am Ariel

I sang in church today.
A dad told me this story afterward about his daughter....

He told me that while I was singing, his three year old daughter held perfectly still. She then turned to him and said, "Daddy, she is as pretty as a princess."
He asked her, "Well, which one? Which princess?"
She looked at him as if it was such an OBVIOUS answer, "Daddy, she is Ariel of course. She is the one that sings!"

I have always wanted to be Ariel and now, I AM!

Sense of.....

In Science today we were talking about our ears and all their different parts.
When I came to the semicircular canals, which are three loops above the cochlea,
I explained how they are there to help with our balance.
But this is how the conversation really went down.....

"Ok, everyone, these are the Semicircular Canals.
They are there to help with our sense of.....

"HUMOR!"

Which is what I heard before I was able to say BALANCE.
I stopped and looked at him and just started laughing.
Then the rest of the class joined in the laughing.

We then continued to crack a few jokes about our
semicircular canals and them messing up our sense of Humor!

You know, like, when someone is trying to be funny and they just aren't cutting it, you can always just blame it on their

SEMICIRCULAR CANALS!

they always seem to get in the way!

Baking Soda!

We were working on compound words in class one day. I gave the students a worksheet that had the FIRST part of the compound word and they had to find the second part. One of my students looked up and said, "Man, Mrs. Walker, I really wish that Bacon was one of the words on here." I thought to myself for a second and then asked, "Bacon? Bacon? Why bacon? What compound word starts with Bacon???" She looked at me and said, "You know, Ba-con Soda!!!!" It took me a second to know what she was talking about and then it clicked...."Bacon Soda?? You mean, Bak-ing Soda!!!!" Oh gosh that was a good one. It kept me happy ALL day!
